Everything You Need to Know About Hiring a Professional Cleaning Company

Hiring a cleaning company for the first time comes with a lot of questions. Here's what to look for, what to ask, and how to find the right fit for your home.

Insurance and background checks. A legitimate cleaning company should be insured, and cleaners should be vetted before they're sent into your home. Don't be afraid to ask directly — a good company will answer without hesitation.

What's included in a standard cleaning. Ask exactly what's covered: kitchens, bathrooms, floors, dusting, and general tidying are typical. Extras like inside the oven, inside the fridge, baseboards, or window washing are often add-ons. Get this in writing so there's no confusion on cleaning day.

Pricing structure. Some companies charge by the hour, others by a flat rate based on your home's size and condition. Flat-rate, photo-based quotes (like ours) tend to be more predictable — you know the cost before you book, without a surprise invoice afterward.

Products and equipment. Ask whether the company brings its own supplies and equipment, and whether they can accommodate specific preferences — pet-safe products, fragrance-free cleaners, or your own supplies if you prefer.

Consistency. For recurring service, ask whether you'll typically get the same cleaner or team. Familiarity with your home usually means a faster, more thorough clean over time.

Communication and scheduling. A good company makes it easy to reschedule, ask questions, or flag anything that needs attention — ideally by text, phone, or a quick online form rather than a lot of back-and-forth.

Reviews and reputation. Look at recent reviews, not just the overall rating. Recent feedback tells you how the company is performing right now, not two years ago.

Getting started. Most companies, including ours, offer an easy way to request a quote — often just by sharing a few photos or a short video of your space so pricing and scope are clear before anyone sets foot in your home.
