Preparing for Your First Cleaning

You don't need to clean before the cleaners arrive — that's the whole point of booking. A little prep, though, helps your team focus on the work that matters most.

Clear countertops and surfaces. Put away dishes, mail, and clutter so the crew can clean the surface itself, not work around your belongings.

Secure valuables and fragile items. Move anything irreplaceable or delicate somewhere safe. Our team is careful, but it's one less thing to think about.

Handle pets. Let us know about any pets in the home, and consider crating them, keeping them in a separate room, or having a plan for the visit if they're anxious around new people.

Share access instructions. Alarm codes, lockbox details, or entry instructions should be sent ahead of time so there's no delay when the team arrives.

Point out priorities and no-go zones. If there's a specific area you want extra attention on — or a room you'd rather we skip — note it before the visit rather than during.

Note any allergies or product preferences. If anyone in the home has sensitivities, or you prefer fragrance-free or pet-safe products, let us know in advance so we bring the right supplies.

Make room to work. Clearing a path in busy areas like entryways and kitchens helps the team move efficiently and get more done in the time scheduled.

Plan for the first visit to take a bit longer. A first cleaning is often more thorough than a routine visit, since the team is getting to know your home. Don't be surprised if it takes a little more time than a typical recurring appointment.
